Amanda Fish
Tell us about when you first realized that you were an artist.
I come from an artistic family and have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. One of my first treasured drawings just happens to be fruit inside one of those 50s-60s style cut glass bowls. I was 5 years old. Little did I know I would return to this subject matter as a favorite many many years later!
What is your biggest challenge when selling your art?
There are many challenges to selling your art, it keeps you on your toes. I'm a one-woman professional artist trying to handle every aspect of my business. And, block off time to paint and teach. Even with the challenges, I'm passionate about painting. Showing my work, speaking with others who love art, is such a great joy. I can't imagine doing anything else.
Is there anything else you would like to share about your art?
Primarily a Still Life painter, I'm constantly inspired by the visual richness of objects. It is my desire to interpret the grace and beauty I see when bringing a variety of items together. I was a watercolor artist for many years before switching to oils. I still paint in thin layers which creates a fresh painterly feel to my oil paintings. I love to find a lyrical movement within my still life.
