Ten years ago today, How Original! An Art Gallery in Laguna Beach closed its doors forever. (Well, at least until I go insane enough to try it again.) In many ways I miss the place. It was fun and exciting. And, I learned so much. Most importantly, it helped to start me on this new path of author and speaker.

Over the summer, I interviewed several more artists. I just posted the first one from this batch on the Videos page of this website. This interview is with Robert Ferguson. He has some great information about how to ask questions to get customers involved with your work. Unfortunately, my video camera ran out of batteries in the middle of this interview. So, I'll have to see if I can get Robert to do it again so I can get some more information out of him. Also, I have added closed captioning, so if I'm talking too fast and you can't understand me, then turn it on to read the words. Here's the next video in my artist interview series. Robin Wethe Altman has a wealth of experience to share. In this video she shares how she tells a story to create an emotional connection with the customer.
The second video in my artist interview series is now posted both on the video page of this website and on The Shy Artist YouTube channel. This interview is with jewelry artist Bonnie Beaux.
It wasn't hard to get Bonnie to agree to do this interview. Not only is Bonnie NOT a shy artist, I just finished creating the first of The Shy Artist video interviews. This one is with children's book author and illustrator Scott E. Sutton. We got to interview him in his booth at the Art-A-Fair Festival in Laguna Beach, CA. You can see this interview on the video page of this website...
