Clearing the log jam of creativity

The Shy Artist's 2015 Art Show Planner
I have been fighting with my computers recently. All three of them. My favorite old desktop is still running Windows XP and has everything on it exactly the way I like it. However, it is getting old and slow. My newer laptop keeps crashing. The blue screen of death rears its ugly head on occasion. It is not talking to the printer and it is really slow. Slower than my antique desktop. Lastly, there's my notebook. It used to be a Windows XP machine, but now it's a Linux mint machine. The computer itself works just fine, but I had let my neighbor borrow it for a few months and it came back with really sticky keys.
So, for the last several weeks, I have been jumping from one computer to the other. Whichever one works for whatever I need to do. It's been mind numbingly slow to get anything done. Not to mention frustrating.

Well that was as of last weekend. This week has been great. My boyfriend, the computer genius, took a look at all my computers and worked some magic on them. They're all now happy and working.

And guess what? So am I!

I have been very prolific these past few days. It was like the flood gates opened up and let the flow of creativity out. I have been writing more and I am about to publish the next book in The Shy Artist series. (I'm just waiting for the proof copy to arrive so I can approve it.)

Before the computers were fixed, I was spending so much of my energy fighting with these tools that I couldn't get anything out. Every time something went wrong it created another barrier to the flow of creativity. No wonder I wasn't getting anything done. And what a difference now.

So what is getting in the way of your creativity? Do you need to update your tools? Do you need to learn a new skill? Do you need to have a space that is distraction free so that you can focus?

Whatever it is that is stopping you from creating, fix it. Do not allow anything to hinder your creative process.
