What is it about going to a live event?

I went to my first hockey game a few nights ago. I have certainly seen my share of hockey games on TV. It is a fun game to watch if you are into that sort of thing. Looking back on that experience along with all the other I'll live theater and other live events I've attended, there's a
definite difference between a live event, and something you just look at on TV or on a web site.

Somehow the live event just seems so much better. I'm not really sure what it is about a live event that makes it better. Could it be that you're around like-minded individuals? Could it be that you're seeing the actual event or actual artwork up close and personal? Could it be the physical act of making the effort to get out of the house to go see the event?

I think it's probably a combination of all of the above. There's a certain mystique surrounding special events. The people, the place, and the thing, all combine to create something much bigger than the sum of the parts.

So, the next time you're at some special event, observe a little more closely. What is it that makes the event special? And, more importantly, how can you apply those qualities to the next show that you do?

PS It was the Boston Bruins vs. the Anaheim Ducks
